Spectrum produces 2D for Ster-Kinekor Mobi Site

Following the launch of the exciting new “mobi” site, Ster-Kinekor’s customers can now access a range of Ster-Kinekor services online via their mobile phones, including checking which movies are showing, searching forthcoming attractions, viewing trailers, entering competitions and booking their movie tickets.

Winning the pitch against two other creative agencies, Spectrum remains the company of choice to communicate Ster-Kinekor’s messages via the big screen, and the production team - Dinesh Diar, Anthony Mearns, Victor Jacobs and Elaine Fifield - were brought in once again to produce a 30-second, 2D advertisement to announce the launch of the mobi site to Ster-Kinekor’s customers. “We created an original concept, proposed a competitive price and were able to execute a high-quality production within the short time frame given,” explains Chief Creative Officer, Dinesh Diar.

Aimed mainly at the teenage “mobile-generation”, the advertisement highlights the convenience of the new service by featuring young people in various familiar scenarios - at home, at the gym and hanging out with friends - navigating the site and completing their transactions via the mobi site quickly and easily. No more newspaper searches and no more booking queues!

“Using chromakey techniques, the young actors and actresses were digitally filmed against a green screen background at our in-house studio. The animations were keyed in during post-production and the final mix took place at the in-house audio facility at Spectrum,” says Diar. “The young and upbeat voice-over and vibrant background music were the final touches to achieve the desired look and feel of the advertisement.”

From conceptualisation to the final edit, the project was completed in just two weeks. It is currently showing on all Ster-Kinekor 2D cinema screens, as well as on airport screens and Ster-Kinekor movie foyers nationwide.
