NIKE

Commanding the attention of every passer-by and capturing imaginations for kilometres around the CBD, Nike’s larger-than-life outdoor display harnessed the power of Daktronics LED technology, exclusively available through Spectrum, to create a gripping and an interactive brand experience.
Giant Daktronics LED screens, towering 138 metres above downtown Johannesburg, allowed Nike to engage audiences around the world to write their own headlines and light up the Johannesburg skyline. The ambitious interactive outdoor installation allowed fans to submit a personal message to inspire their favourite players. Each night, up to 100 headlines were transformed into huge digital player animations that are projected over the City of Johannesburg.
Light years beyond the ordinary electronic billboard, this innovative LED display stood 14 storeys high, measured an astonishing 44 metres by 42 metres, weighed 13 tons and incorporated 272 000 individual LEDs – the largest Interactive LED screen in Africa. Flanked by 90m tall images of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho, the total size of the wrap is 8,400 square metres - big enough to cover an entire full size regulation football pitch.
The Nike spectacular was controlled by a sophisticated control system, constructed on the roof of the building. The inclusion of the Daktronics ProPixel stick and puck elements delivers smooth motion, accurate image reproduction and rich colour depth.
The specifically-designed outdoor screens offer crystal clear viewing in bright daylight and function properly in extreme weather conditions, offering more than 24,000 pixels and billions of shades of dazzling colour, creating startling contrast that demand attention.
